What is detailing?
Detailing is the systematic rejuvenation and protection of the various surfaces of a vehicle.
Do I need to have my vehicle detailed?
YES...and NO. All vehicles, from a daily driver, to those on a show circuit benefit from regular scheduled detailing. Regular washing of your vehicle keeps it clean, but offers no protection from the sun's harmful UV rays and doesn't remove contaminants that may adhere to your paint and eventually cause the clear coat to fail.. A proper detail should include a thorough cleaning of the vehicle and then the addition of protection for the various surfaces, such as plastic, leather, rubber and especially the vehicles painted surfaces. Maintaining the physical appearance of your vehicle will help retain the value when it comes time to sell it or trade it in.
Do I need paintwork correction?
Miracle Detail's paintwork correction process is the removal of common paint problems, such as scratches, bird stains, swirl marks, buffer marks, micro-marring, orange peel, cob-webbing and 3D hologram effects. This is carried out by re-levelling the laquer by 1 or 2 microns, so that the paintwork reflects light perfectly at all angles, including direct sunlight. I'm collecting a new car. Why get it detailed before delivery? Contrary to popular belief, new cars rarely look their best. Despite being treated to a quick wash and polish by the dealership (which may even result in swirl marks caused by over-eager attention and wrong techniques), residue from the protective film they wear during transportation may remain. Plus they may have been stored outside for a number of months, near docks, railways and other industrial areas - before being treated to a light dusting of contaminants when transported on the UK road system or by rail. Carnauba wax is a resin produced by the leaves of a South American wax palm tree, Copernicia Cerifera, to protect it against harsh rainforest conditions (extreme heat, solar radiation, moisture and humidity). With a strong grain structure, carnauba is the hardest wax known to man, but also dries to an extremely deep natural shine. There are quite a few professional detailers. Why use Paul? Why is Paul so expensive? At £60 + VAT an hour, Paul charges about as much as a main dealer for a car servicing, or a regional solicitor for conveyancing. When you consider that there is no-one arguably better than Paul at what he does, the cost seems quite reasonable - especially when £1k of paint correction could save the cost of a £4k respray, or when a freshly detailed car achieves a higher asking price in a private sale. How far will you travel? Miracle Detail is based in Surrey and most of Paul's client base is in London and the South of England. He will travel within a 75 mile radius of the M25 peninsula at no extra cost, travelling further afield (including worldwide) upon negotiation of an extra fee to cover his travelling time and expenses. Do you need any electricity or water when you arrive to detail my car? No, Paul has his own electrical and water supplies on board. Can I bring my car to you? Yes of course, Paul now has a Miracle Detail Centre based in Kent, please contact him for further details. Can you collect and deliver my car? Paul is unable to personally collect or deliver a car, preferring to drive to his clients. If you need a car collected, detailed and then delivered, Paul can arrange for a specialist automotive transportation company to provide this service (at an additional cost). What hours do you work? Paul is so passionate about detailing, he often works from dusk till dawn. You can call him any time until 9pm, 7 days a week. What payment methods do you accept? You can pay either by cash or cheque with a guarantee card. Are there any cars you won't do? Paul will detail anything from a Morris Minor to a Maybach. However, the cost of his expertise means that he tends to detail luxury and sports cars almost exclusively. It should be noted that he cannot detail cars that need paint correction until this has been carried out. If you need to cancel, we require at least 48 hours prior to your confirmed booking or there will be a £300 cancellation fee. What do swirl marks and machine buffer marks look like? I've recently purchased a black car, but after its first wash I've noticed swirl marks and the paintwork dulling. Why is this happening? There are a number of reasons for this, but more often that not, it's because someone inexperienced has been using the wrong products, techniques and buffing pads to remove scratches and other imperfections in the paintwork. The swirl marks appear after the first wash because the polishes and glazes used to fill in the swirl marks and imperfections get washed away. What are the benefits of being a member? Do you need to work under cover or in a garage? Not necessarily. If it's not raining, Paul can work outside without any problem. In the event of rain, Paul can use a small portable marquee, although this can't be erected in strong winds. If the weather is unsuitable, you can arrange for the work to be carried out on an alternative date. I am a chauffeur for a wealthy client. Can you be discrete? Of course. Paul works for a number of clients who demand the utmost discretion. I want to enter my car for a concours event. Can you prepare it? Miracle Detail uses a number of specialist products and only distributes those products that live up to the Miracle name, which have all been tried and tested by Paul himself. Wax fills and hides scratches, but does not remove them. Unless the surface is properly prepared with the appropriate compounds or polishes, scratches will reappear as soon as the wax starts to fade.
Q. I had my truck "buffed out" so why can I still see swirls all over it.
Even in the hands of some professionals a high-speed buffer will often leave the tell tale "swirl marks". In the hands of an amateur a high speed buffer can be down right hazardous to your vehicle. Trim can be ripped off, headlights and taillights ruined and in worst case scenarios your vehicles paint system destroyed.
